Empowering Black Women to Succeed in Technology

At Zubachee, our mission is to empower Black women to break into the tech industry, providing them with the resources, support, and inspiration they need to thrive. Transitioning into technology is not just about learning new skills—it’s about transforming lives, creating opportunities, and showcasing the incredible talent within our community. Inspired by the “Transition into Tech” campaign, we’re proud to highlight success stories, dispel myths, and offer tools to help Black women take the next step in their careers.

Inspiring Journeys into Technology

Every path into the tech world is unique, and the journeys of successful Black women serve as powerful examples of what’s possible. Here are a few inspiring stories:

  • From Government Administrator to Tech Leadership
One woman transitioned from managing federal grants to becoming an Associate Director of Planning and Partnerships at a major tech company. Leveraging her expertise in strategy and resource management, she now drives initiatives that enhance online safety and foster partnerships.
  • From Sales Coordinator to UX Researcher
After facing redundancy in her previous role, another professional discovered a passion for user experience (UX) design. Today, she works as a UX Researcher, helping companies optimize processes and improve customer experiences through data-driven strategies.
  • From Recruitment Administrator to AI Program Manager
Starting her career in recruitment, one individual now leads an “AI for Science” initiative, managing research and development projects that push the boundaries of innovation and scientific discovery.

These stories demonstrate the diverse opportunities available in technology and highlight how transferable skills can open doors to meaningful careers.

Dispelling Myths About Tech Careers

Entering the tech industry can feel daunting, especially with common misconceptions that deter many aspiring professionals. Let’s break down some of these myths:

  • “You need a tech degree to succeed.”
Many Black women in tech come from non-technical backgrounds. Transferable skills, self-study, and certifications often hold just as much value as a degree.
  • “Tech is only for coders.”
The industry offers a wide range of roles, from project management and UX design to data analysis and digital marketing, ensuring there’s a place for everyone.
  • “Tech is too complex for beginners.”
With the right resources, guidance, and community support, transitioning into tech is more accessible than ever before.
